Then you need a chance to step back and bring some fun back in your life! So grab your pocket camera and start capturing the humorous and absurd all around you in the Science House Humorous Photo Contest. Find your lab partner and just get goofy. Take a science-themed photo that makes you laugh and send it our way - the best photo wins a brand new Canon digital camera and the admiration of scientists around the world.
PRIZES: First Place is a Canon Powershot SX120 IS digital camera. It has a 10X optical zoom, 3 inch LCD, 10 megapixel resolution and image stabilization. 32 megabyte SD card included. Any entries published on the Science House website will receive a Science House logo mug.
HOW TO ENTER: Click here to enter. Remember to include a fitting caption for your photo. There is no fee to enter the contest.
DEADLINE: The final date for submitting photos is Oct 31st, 2009. The winner will be announced in November 2009.
WHAT PHOTOS TO ENTER: We are looking for original photos that showcase the humorous side of science. It could be you and your friends wearing safety goggles at Starbucks, a petri dish with bacterial colonies that spell out "help", your friend asleep with his head buried in his Quantum Mechanics text, or any science-oriented shot that you think is funny. Use your imagination!
Entrants must not infringe on the rights of any other photographer or person or submit images that involve lab secrets or dangerous practices.
Simple digital alterations (such as cropping, color alteration, or red eye reduction) are acceptable, though alterations such as adding a key element of the photo is not allowed.
PREPARE YOUR PHOTOS: Digital images must be sent as jpg, gif or png files. File size cannot be more than 4 megabytes.
JUDGING: Photographs will be judged on humor, originality, and photo quality. All decisions by the judges are final. Judges will be a subset of the staff at Science House.
