By entering this competition, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
DEADLINE: The final date for submitting photos is at Oct 31st, 2009. The winner will be announced in November 2009.
JUDGING: Photographs will be judged on humor, originality, and photo quality. All decisions by the judges are final. Judges will be a subset of the staff at Science House.
PHOTO ALTERATIONS: Simple digital alterations (such as cropping, color alteration, or red eye reduction) are acceptable, though alterations such as adding a key element of the photo is not allowed.
ELIGIBLITY: The Science House Humorous Photo Contest is open to anyone at least 13 years of age, except employees and contractors of Science House and their immediate families.
YOUR RIGHTS: Entrants retain ownership and use of the photographs of all entered photos, but your entry to the contest constitutes your agreement to allow your entered photographs — and your name, city, lab/university affiliation, and photo caption — to be published as photo contest submissions on the Science House website and for promotions of Science House including, but not limited to, printed publications, exhibitions, a compilation book or electronic collection of photographs, online photo features, and web pages and email newsletters.
CONDITIONS:
By entering, participants warrant that his or her entry materials are original, do not infringe on any third party’s rights, and that participant has obtained any necessary permissions from any third party if a third party or third party’s property appears in the photograph.
By entering, participants release and hold harmless Science House, its affiliated organizations, and each of their directors, officers, employees, attorneys, agents and representatives from any and all liability for any injuries, loss, claim, action, demand or damage of any kind arising from or related to the Science House Humorous Photo Contest.
The contest is governed by the laws of the United States and is subject to applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. In any such dispute, participant shall, under no circumstances, be entitled to claim punitive, incidental or consequential damages, or any other damages, including attorneys’ fees, other than participant’s actual out-of-pocket expenses (if any) associated with participating in the Science House Humorous Photo Contest.
All federal, state, and local taxes, fees and surcharges on prize packages are the sole responsibility of the winners.
Science House is not responsible for lost or damaged photographs or technical issues associated with the uploading of contest photos. Void where prohibited.
