People of Science House

Science House is building network of scientists who are experts in their fields. Take a look at some of the people in the Science House network so far and visit their personal pages where they talk about what they do, mentors who have inspired them, exciting moments that got them hooked on science as well as everything else in their lives that's important, fun and challenging.

Science House has many more scientists in the pipeline - check out who's coming soon to the website. If you're interested in being photographed and featured on our website, please email us. We'd love to hear from you!

Lauren Birney

Christine Du

Biotechnologist

“Many important medical discoveries in drug development and disease treatment depend on an in-depth knowledge of biological systems as well applications of this knowledge through biotechnology”

Rebecca Burgess

Cell Biologist and Geneticist

“A desire for self-sufficiency and a punk attitude tend to govern my style.”

Latt Mansor

Biotechnologist

“I believe there is a mentor or role model of some sort behind every science student.”

Scientist Spotlight

  • I was always a science scavenger and tinkerer. As an adult I'm still really fascinated by the scientific history of things, particularly tools.

  • Daniel Menelly

  • Dan Menelly teaches science and develops science programs for schools. He also writes and lectures about science and learning, most recently presenting a series of science lectures in Europe about the life of Galileo in Rome, volcanic eruptions and the lost civilization of Akrotiri in Greece, and marine fauna in southern France.

Learn more about Dan's philosophy for engaging students in science and explore his "virtual toolkit" - a teachers guide to creating fun, memorable and instructive science experiments out of everyday items and materials.
