Every scientist remembers the first time they discovered the wonder of science, whether it was reading about distant galaxies, being lost in the colorful pictures of a biology book, discovering the solution to a puzzling math problem or learning that everything in and around us is made of atoms so small they can only be seen with the most advanced microscopes. Our Foundation aims to help students around the world discover the wonder of science and get excited!

Science House Foundation is stepping in to supplement science education around the world. We are helping set up science clubs for school students in Ghana, providing scholarships for top high school mathematicians in South America to participate in Math Olympiad training courses, funding computer labs in China that give kids access to science resources over the internet, and supporting a high school project in the States which aims to build a Scanning Tunneling Microscope for under $500.

A hands on experience with science can make difficult concepts come to life, so we are providing funding for scientific equipment like chemistry sets, microscopes, and physics experiments. These efforts are especially important in developing nations where equipment for kids is often in poor condition or not available at all. Our donations to the Mobile Science Lab in South Africa, for example, help buy equipment that can be shared by thousands of kids at dozens of impoverished schools.

There is nothing quite like the competitive spirit to bring out the energy in a kid, whether that is on the basketball court or at a math competition. Our foundation believes in harnessing this energy by providing funding to organize these events and establish prizes that motivate kids to excel in science. Our donation to Suffolk Community College is providing cash prizes for a weekly math competition to encourage many more students to participate.

Every scientist remembers that special book which opened their eyes to the wonder of science - the book that was impossible to put down. At Science House, we will soon be launching an effort in partnership with online science blogs to identify the best regarded children’s science books and then distribute them to curious children throughout the world.

Science House will be establishing a series of prizes to recognize scientific talent and achievement as well as reward individuals who make a contribution toward science education and training for kids. We will also be running challenges in which submitters are tasked with creating promotional programs that bring science to a wider range of people.

Science House Foundation is funding science equipment kits for a teacher training program in Afghanistan. Experienced, volunteer teachers from the US organization "School is Open" are currently in Afghanistan providing training, resources and educational curricula to Afghani teachers. Dozens of local teachers voluntarily attend the classes to gain new knowledge and improve the educational experience they are able to offer the hundreds of students they teach each day.
Science House Foundation funded science kits including hand lenses, microscopes, slides, tuning forks, anatomy and xray charts and prism sets, which will be distributed to the teachers. Watch a video about School Is Open here or read the latest on their website to learn more about what they are achieving in Afghanistan.
