| Summary: |
Let us take a journey into the universe powered by the insights of great minds like Pythagoras, Copernicus, Newton, Einstein and Hubble and answer questions such as: How far away is the moon? How far away is the sun? How do we measure the distance to stars and galaxies? How old is the universe? And how do we know that? In this talk, physicist Varghese John will give us an introduction to Astronomy and provide an historical context for our current understanding of the Universe. He'll give us a foundational understanding of physical Cosmology and the structure and dynamics of our Universe that will help illuminate concepts such as the Big Bang, Dark Matter, Dark Energy and the eventual fate of the universe. |
